Remembering Imam Hussain (as)., not just in the month of Muharram but every day is a duty for us. He was and is our role model. It is really very astonishing that he is not mentioned in our history books like other heroes and other saviors. Yes, I know he is a religious figure to many, and many have written about many theological saints and saviors; but why not him? O’ how sad that he is not recognized as a great savior and a hero for the selfless sacrifice he gave, and what he stood for. I know many would argue that “we do not believe in Islam,” but many who are not even heroes are mentioned, and many other religious figures are recognized. The world should know more about him for who he was and is, a great Godly person. His life is not mentioned in any textbooks of schools or colleges of the world history! From the day he was born to the day he died is a life that one can learn from in every era of a human life. We learn so much from his sacrifice, his wounds of pain, physically and mentally, his stance, his patience, his bravery, his battle in defense, is so powerful for all mankind to learn. He is not recognized in the social norm as a great leader, a great human, a great Godly person. For us he is a great light, the great grandson of Prophet Muhammad sawas., and the son of Ali ibne abi Talib as., and Fatima Al Zahra sa., the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad sawas. It hurts my heart! And, because of social media many in this time have come to know who he was and is to this day. I am sure if one googles his name will come to know much about him and his sacrifice. He is not just a role model for Muslims but for all! I hope one day his name is mentioned and loved and respected in every heart as he deserves that and much more.
As you see in one of the photo’s above, the millions go there to Karbala Iraq, on the 10th of Muharram, and Arbaeen (the 40th day after his martyrdom). In this day and in this age, the hearts of many, not just the Shia Muslims, but many sects of Islam and many Christians go to pay love and respects as well. I have seen the love of Imam Hussain (as) in many Hindus of India as well. The other photo of the painting is done by (unknown) artist, I assume the lady is his sister in the painting of the plains of Karbala.
A ‘rose’ for you “O Hussaina.” I do not think we give justice each year to commemorate your martyrdom. “Every day is Ashoora and Every Land is Karbala.” There is so much to pen about your sacrifice, so much to learn about your life. Because of you I believe humanity is saved.
Until next time with more on our beloved Imam, inshallah (God Willing) take care till next Daily light!
